Christine Susan (Miles) Nagal
Mrs. Christine Susan (Miles) Nagel, 65, rural Nelsonville, Mo., passed away, Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
She was born Dec. 9, 1955 in Hannibal, Mo., a daughter of Robert Eugene and Valeta Rose Dettwiler Miles. She married Ronald David Nagel on Oct. 18, 1981, in Quincy, Ill. He survives.

Other survivors include four children, Susan (Patrick) Nowell, Hannibal, Mo.; Janet Carter and fiancé Mike Hayes, Lewistown, Mo.; Laura Nagel, Austin, Texas; and R.D. Nagel II and Kayla Baker, Canton, Mo.; her 91-year-old father, Bob Miles, Bethel, Mo.; five grandchildren, Austyn and Alivia Nowell, Hannibal; Allie and Ansley Carter, Lewistown; and Jase Hayes, Lewistown; one brother, Steven (Donna) Miles, Cabot, Ark.; two sisters, Joanne (Gary) Arnold, McGregor, Texas; and Michelle (Robert) Wikowsky, BeeBee, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Valeta; one niece, Jayme Irvin; her in-laws, David and Joanne Nagel; and several aunts and uncles.
Christine loved mornings drinking coffee on her front porch and the Hallmark Channel at Christmas time. She enjoyed playing scrabble, canasta and Yahtzee.
Birthday meals were special to her and she loved hosting family and friends in her home. She also prepared a meal for her children’s teachers at the end of every school year. She had an ability to make anyone feel welcome.
Christine was a wonderful cook and was known for her fudge, chocolate chip cookies and sourdough bread.
She loved her grandchildren, especially reading “Going on a Bear Hunt” and tea parties with her granddaughters. She enjoyed time in Bible study with a group of ladies from the Nelsonville area and scrapbooking with Janet Stoner.
Watching Chip and Joanna Gaines Fixer Upper Show was one of her favorites. She had the opportunity to visit Waco, Texas and shop at the Magnolia Market. She also enjoyed going to the Pioneer Womans’ mercantile in Pawhuska, Okla. Christmas time was her favorite time of the year and she spent days decorating her tree.
Christine was instrumental in tutoring the Sonethongkham family from Loas in English through the Presbyterian church in Quincy in the 1980s.
Her career in healthcare began as a nurses aide. She then served as a surgical tech for several years and earned her associate degree as a registered nurse. Over the years she worked at St. Elizabeths Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital and Blessing Hospital in Quincy and retired this year from St. Vincent’s Nursing Home.
Christine attended Nelsonville Baptist Church. Ron and Chris farmed together and celebrated “40 years on the farm” in February of 2020.
A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Nelsonville Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be R.D. Nagel, Patrick Nowell, Mike Hayes, Steven Miles, Dylan Crane and Andy Campbell.
