Earl Richmond Ensminger, 92, Palmyra, Mo., passed away at 11:40 a.m., Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.

Earl was born Sep. 25, 1928, in Hannibal, Mo., to Erven Richmond and Marie Retti Ensminger.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Anne Olson (Charles), Rockford, Ill.; Nancy Headlee (Bob Pasternack), Boulder Colo.; Paul Headlee (Anne), Davenport, Iowa; and Robert Headlee (Julie) of Elizabeth, Ill.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elisabeth Jane Ensminger Headlee.

Earl grew up on the family farm and continued farming his whole life. 

He enjoyed going to the annual Tri-State Rodeo in Ft. Madison, Iowa. Earl really loved dogs and was the kind of genuine person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. 

A country music fan, he enjoyed the Oak Ridge Boys and the Statler Brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 15, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra. Pastor Charles Olson will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.

Pallbearers will be Robert Headlee, Paul Headlee, Charles Olson, Bill Poppe, Raymond Hall and Robert Hall.

Friends and family are invited to Earl’s life celebration at a visitation from 9 to 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 15, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.

Memorials may be made to Community Loving Care Hospice.
