William Benjamin “Bill” Kaiser

William Benjamin “Bill” Kaiser, 92, Palmyra, Mo., passed away at 2:10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.

Bill was born May 30, 1929, on the family farm outside Palmyra. He attended Oakview School and was a 1947 graduate of Palmyra High School. He was the co-captain of the 1946 Palmyra Panthers football squad.

He married Dot Kaiser, his high school sweetheart, Sept. 11, 1949. After their marriage, he and Dot were farmers in Marion County for 45 years. They enjoyed traveling to the Lake of the Ozarks and anniversary trips to Branson, Mo.

He enjoyed water skiing, bowling and playing golf and was an avid fisherman and hunter. In later years Bill got his exercise through his daily walks which often turned into lengthy conversation with friends.

He and Dot often joined friends for Friday evening dinners, and Bill was a regular at the morning coffee sessions at Hardee’s where most of the world’s problems were solved.

Bill is survived by his daughter, De Ann Bright (Stan),  Fayetteville, Ark., and one grandson, Colin Bright (Meggan) of Harrisburg, Pa. Additionally, he is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dot Kaiser; his mother and father, Lola, and Andrew Kaiser Sr.; three sisters, Virginia Penley, Eileen Rouse and Catherine Kaiser; and one brother, Andrew Kaiser Jr.

A private graveside service for the family will be held on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at Greenwood Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for Dot and Bill after the services at 11 a.m. on Oct. 8, at Pavilion #1 near the tennis courts at Flower City Park in Palmyra.

Memorials may be made to the Palmyra Flower City Park or the Fabius Community House playground equipment fund through Exchange Bank of NE Missouri.
