David C. “Craig” Bent
David C. “Craig” Bent, 68, Palmyra, Mo., passed away at 3:07 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Mo.
Craig was born July 14, 1953, in Quincy, Ill. to Jesse Lionel and Dorothy M. Wood Bent. He was married to Kathy Harrison on March 31, 1978, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra. She survives.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Kathy Bent, Palmyra; daughter, Lindsey Bent; and grandson, Elias W. Bent.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Bent; brother, Kevin M. Bent; and grandson, Calen J. Bent.
Craig served the community of Palmyra for 32 years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed his work and all of the relationships he built within the community.
He was blessed with the gift of gab and truly enjoyed visiting with people. A favorite memory was the year he dressed up for the St. Joseph Catholic Church’s annual Halloween party as a postal carrier with Pound Puppies sewn all over him and his pants shredded from the “puppy bites”.
Craig had many hobbies in his younger years, to keep him busy, often working in his garden and preserving the fruits of his labor by making canned salsa or homemade ketchup. He looked forward to his annual mushroom hunting adventures. He relished watching all sports but especially enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals play ball.
Craig loved to spend time with his family, often being the one pulling jokes on them, but he cherished every moment spent with them and being a grandpa to his grandson Elias.
Craig was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday March 21, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra. Father Matthew Flatley will officiate. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Palmyra.
Friends and family are invited to Craig’s life celebration at a visitation that will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on March 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra.
