Elizabeth W Roth

Elizabeth W Roth, 102, Palmyra, Mo., passed away at 7:45 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, Ill.

Elizabeth was born Oct. 1, 1920, in Hannibal, Mo., to Sidney and Lalla “Bier” Weseman. She was married to Jerry Roth on July 10, 1045 at the Quincy College Chapel in Quincy. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1990.

Survivors include her son, James Roth (Rebecca); sister, Mary Jo Devries (Bob); grandchildren, Michael Roth (Lisa), Christopher Roth, Ryan Roth (Clair) and Courtney Lazzara (Thomas); great-grandchildren, Avery Roth, Emily Roth, Genevieve Lazzara, Joseph James Lazzara, Brandon Roth, Nicholas Roth and coming in December, Adam Roth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Roth; one son, Joseph E. Roth; one infant daughter, Elizabeth A. Roth; one brother, Sidney Weseman Jr.; and one sister, Alice Bakley.

 Elizabeth was a very smart and astute woman. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Quincy College before bringing her financial talents to work in accounting and then manage the Quincy Credit Bureau for over 40 years. 

Later she was a farm wife for many years, standing beside her husband and family, and tending to everything they needed. She loved investing and handling the finances for the family as well. 

She lent her green thumb to work her flower garden to glory. Elizabeth was very involved in the community and donated much of her time volunteering and giving wherever there was a need.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian burial and graveside service are pending with Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel for a later date.
