Robert A. “Bob” Wolfmeyer

Robert A. “Bob” Wolfmeyer, 87, of Palmyra, Mo., passed into the arms of Jesus at 2:08 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023, at his home in Palmyra.

Robert A. “Bob” Wolfmeyer

Bob was born Jan. 18, 1936, to William H. and Elizabeth “Betty” F. Musholt Wolfmeyer at his grandmother’s home in LaGrange, Mo. He was married to Doris Jane Peuster on Oct. 19, 1957 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Rectory in Palmyra.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Doris Wolfmeyer, Palmyra; children, Pamela J. Wolfmeyer, Palmyra; Michael Wolfmeyer (Tammy), Palmyra; and Debra J. Henderson (Mike), LaGrange; grandchildren, Christopher Michael Wolfmeyer, Caroline Louise Wolfmeyer, Nathan Michael Henderson and Jared Austin Henderson; brothers, William F. Wolfmeyer (Sue) and Richard L. Wolfmeyer (Susie); sister, Theresa Dudash; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister JoAnn Franklin; and niece, Cathy Bichsel.

Bob worked at the LaGrange Foundry for 41 years, but his heart was always at the family farm west of Palmyra. He loved spending time on the farm, working with the cattle, playing on one of his tractors, or deer hunting in the fall. Bob enjoyed working with his hands in his garden and also going for rides on his side by side. He was a talented woodworker, and over the years made many beautiful creations to share with family and friends.

He was known for the confirmation crosses, Christmas ornaments, sleighs and even manger scenes that he would create.

Bob was a man who would often find little ways to be helpful to others.
For many years he worked with the St. Joseph caterers, serving meals and enjoying the camaraderie that went along with it.

He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, at one point serving as Grand Knight, a position that is rich in opportunities to serve his fellow knights and to lead his council in service to family, church and community.

His children laugh as they talk about his ornery streak, loving him all the same for the different sides of his disposition. They knew he was a hardworking, loving man of God who cherished his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and the adults they have become. He will be missed by all of his family and friends.

A  Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra. Father Gerald Kaimann and Deacon Bob Leake will officiate. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra. Funeral services are under the direction of Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Wolfmeyer, Nathan Henderson, Jared Henderson, Doug Baker, Roger Foster, Ross Dames and Kevin DeHaan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Caroline Wolfmeyer and the remaining Knights of Columbus members.
