Allan “Junior” O’Leary
Allan “Junior” O’Leary, 87, Mexico, Mo., passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Monroe Manor in Paris, Mo.
Mr. O’Leary was born on June 8, 1935 in Marling, Mo., the son of Allan and Josie (Trower) O’Leary. On Sept. 16, 1967 he married Neal Riney in Vandalia who preceded him in death on July 9, 2022.
Junior, as he was known by many, enjoyed restoring antique cars. He loved to make road trips and was more than happy to include family and friends. Junior and Neal loved traveling and made several trips to flea markets looking for parts for his car restorations.
Junior spent most of his working life in the grocery business, working in management at C&R in Palmyra and Hoffman’s IGA in Montgomery City.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include six children, Helen (David) Burkhardt, Palmyra; Sheree (Steve) Weddle, Mason, Ohio; Kathy (Ed) Tuley, Palmyra; Ed (Julie) O’Leary, Palmyra; Danny Hoagland, Mexico; and Jerry (Karen) Hoagland, Mexico; 16 grandchildren, Steve Garner, Eddie Jo Garner, David Sanders, Sarah Powell, Cass Lowry, Bradie Ramirez, Steve Webster, Tri Tuley, Tate Tuley, Tanner Tuley, Tinslee Sutter, Adam Schneider, Dalton O’Leary, Jenna Pryor, Jeff Hoagland and Kim Gramke; 27 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. O’Leary was preceded in death by his wife, Neal O’Leary; his parents, Allan and Josie O’Leary; three sisters, Berniece Garrison, Evelyn Bracht and Betty Hatch; and one brother, Robert O’Leary.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, at Arnold Funeral Home. Rev. Tony Maxwell will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 4, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
