 The Jared Stewart family has been selected to represent Marion County as the 2024 State Fair Farm Family. Jared and his wife, Dulcie, live near Nelsonville, in Round Grove Township, where they operate their multi-generational Century Farm that is owned by Jared’s parents, Dale and Janice Stewart and was established in 1860. 

Jared and Dulcie work hard to balance the responsibilities of the family farm with employment from outside sources. Jared is a department manager at Northeast Power in Palmyra, while Dulcie is Marion County R-2 School’s bookkeeper in Philadelphia. Their three children are actively involved on the farm while maintaining their status as scholars: Madison at John Wood Community College, Jackson at Truman State University, and Anderson at Marion County R-2 School. 

Marion County’s Farm Family of the Year exemplifies community leadership by actively engaging in various local organizations. Jared has served on the Marion County R-2 School Board of Education for many years, where he currently serves as president. He is a volunteer Firefighter and First Responder in the Marion County R-2 District, helps with the local FFA chapter, and enjoys coaching basketball and baseball. Dulcie is the Coffee Creek 4-H Community Leader, past member of the University of Missouri Extension Council, and currently a member of the Marion County Jr. Fair Board. They are a family of faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra. 

This annual event is sponsored by five partner agencies: the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Missouri State Fair Commissioners, the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, and MU Extension and Engagement. 

They will be recognized at the Marion County Fair on Saturday before the livestock show.
