Wilfred “Wayne” Myers

 

Wilfred “Wayne” Myers, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and longtime resident of the Fabius and Palmyra community, passed away peacefully at 7:59 AM, Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his home in Palmyra, MO. 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 24, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church. Pastors Wes Gehrke and Bill Blankenship will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. 

Friends and Family are invited to Wayne’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, Monday, March 24, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra, MO. 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO. 

Wayne was born June 13th, 1935, to Wilfred Francis and Esther Carolyn Hoehne Myers. He married Mary Katherine Keller on December 5, 1959. She survives. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Katherine Keller Myers; his daughter Tammy Myers Foster and husband Roger and his daughter Paula Myers Crookshanks and husband Scott Stockhecke and his brother Roger Lee Myers all of Palmyra. 

He is survived by his grandchildren Sara Foster Hawkins and husband Jay of Palmyra, Elizabeth Foster Bland and husband Darren of Rolla, MO, Hannah Foster Straub and husband Josiah of San Antonio, TX, Katlin Crookshanks of Palmyra, and Katherine Foster Baldwin and husband Joseph of Palmyra. He is survived by his great-grandchildren Emma & Matthew Hawkins of Palmyra, and Siena, Theodore, and Arthur Straub of San Antonio, TX. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred and Esther, his son Kevin Myers, granddaughter Madelin Crookshanks, his son-in-law Kevin Crookshanks, his brother M. Eugene Myers and brother J. Marvin Myers, and sister Carolyn Frances Myers. 

Wayne graduated from Palmyra High School in 1953 and began working on the family farm. In 1959, Wayne and Mary started their own farm, raising hogs, cattle, and crops. He also worked at Rural Electric Company for 18 years as a mechanic. 

Wayne’s life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and love for his family and his church. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and other Christian organizations such as Cursillo, TEC, REC, and Marriage Encounter. Wayne was a longtime member of Fabius 4-H club and Palmyra FFA. He was also involved in North River Old Iron Club and Heritage Seekers. He was an International Harvester enthusiast, collecting and restoring antique tractors. He loved attending county fairs, Old Threshers’ reunions, and tractor shows. He enjoyed puzzles and brainteasers, being surrounded by his family, and serving the Lord. 

Pallbearers will be Jim Rhodes, Robert Schwartz, Danny Meyer, Jack Durbin, Raymond Taylor and Frank Caldwell. 

Honorary Pallbearers will be JC Curtis, David Dodd, Dennis Steinkamp and Ed Holthouse. 

Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Fabius Community House, or Palmyra Nutrition Center.
