Larry Dean “Fly” Patterson, 82, of Palmyra, MO passed away at 2:23 PM, Thursday, May 15, 2025, at his home in Palmyra, MO.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 19, 2025, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO. Chaplin Mark Burkey will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in rural Palmyra, MO.
Friends and Family are invited to Larry’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Monday, May 19, 2025, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO.
Larry was born January 14, 1943, in Council, ID, to Lemuel Lester Main and Majorie Althea Green Main. He was married to Barb Fox, April 25, 1980, in Palmyra, MO. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Sherry (Billy) Kelso of Darlington, MO, Nicky Patterson of Savannah, MO, Joe (Sarah) Patterson of Moberly, MO, sisters, Rikki Morrison of Kent, WA, Bobbi Patterson of Sun City West, AZ, Jonni Patterson of Vancouver, WA, Joyce Barnett of Council, ID, numerous grandchildren, and many grand nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Fester.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, adopted father, Robert Patterson, sister, Patty Hodges, and brother, Gordon Gibleau.
A skilled truck driver and heavy equipment operator with the handle “Fly”, Larry’s work ethic was as strong and reliable as the engines he mastered.
Larry was an avid hunter, with a particular fondness for tracking Whitetails. His hands were rarely still, often crafting knives that he generously gifted to those around him. A collector at heart, Larry’s array of ball caps and love for Allis-Chalmers tractors spoke volumes of his interests.
Larry’s laughter was infectious, and his onery spirit meant he was always ready with a joke or a playful jab. He cherished watching westerns like Gunsmoke and relished trips to Idaho or simply going for rides. Larry’s memory will be treasured by all who knew him, as a man who lived life with joy and kindness.
Pallbearers will be Kyndal Gordon, Dennis Martin, Dale Drebenstedt, Donald Bock, Donnie Martin, Bill Hester, and Bily Kelso.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nicky Patterson, Joe Patterson, and Kevin Flesner.
