Crash Near Palmyra Sends One to Hospital With Serious Injuries
PALMYRA, Mo. — A Maywood woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash late Friday morning on U.S. Highway 61, just north of Palmyra.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at 11:36 a.m. Aug. 15 when a 2002 Ford Taurus, driven by a 52-year-old woman from Maywood, failed to yield and struck the rear of a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia. The Freightliner was driven by a 37-year-old man from Des Plaines, Illinois.
The Taurus sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Robert’s Towing. The Freightliner had no visible damage and was driven away.
The woman was transported by Survival Flight to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. Her use of a safety device was unknown at the time of the report.
The crash was investigated by Trooper Hilliard, with assistance from Master Sergeant Koch, Trooper Smith, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Marion County Ambulance, and the Palmyra Fire Department.
