PALMYRA, Mo. — The Palmyra R-1 Board of Education voted Friday to approve a $797,000 contract with Heimer Construction to build new tennis courts at Palmyra High School.
The funding comes from remaining bond proceeds from the district’s 2024 bond issue, after completion of major upgrades at the elementary, middle and high schools. The tennis courts mark the beginning of the district’s secondary projects, which will also include an elementary playground renovation and an energy efficiency initiative involving LED lighting across all three campuses.
In related news, the Board will host a public forum at 6 p.m. Nov. 3 to present the district’s Comprehensive School Improvement Plan. The event will be followed by a 7 p.m. open house at the high school to showcase renovations to the Family and Consumer Science, Art and Alternative Education classrooms, along with a new kitchen, upgraded public restrooms, gym and gym commons. The facilities will be open for public tours until 8 p.m.
