Palmyra R-I Earns 86.2% on Annual State Report, Maintains Strong Performance

PALMYRA, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has released the 2024-25 Annual Performance Report (APR) for the Palmyra R-I School District, showing that the district earned 86.2 percent of the total points possible under the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP 6). The score keeps Palmyra fully accredited and highlights strong results in academics, attendance, and graduation rates.

The APR evaluates each district on academic achievement, student growth, attendance, graduation, and readiness for college or careers. Palmyra’s scores indicate a solid balance across all areas, with results exceeding state averages in several subjects.

In English Language Arts, Palmyra posted a mean proficiency index (MPI) of 399.9, compared to the state average of 385.5. About 10.8 percent of students scored below basic, while 40.4 percent were proficient and 17.1 percentadvanced. Mathematics results also showed strong performance, with an MPI of 388.0, compared to the state average of 373.8. Roughly 38 percent of students scored proficient and 17 percent advanced, both higher than statewide levels.

In science, Palmyra’s MPI of 378.3 nearly matched the state’s 377.3, with 33.3 percent proficient and 19.9 percentadvanced. The district also demonstrated strong achievement in social studies, with 64.1 percent of students proficient and 29.6 percent advanced, well above Missouri averages.

Palmyra’s graduation rate remained among the highest in the region at 97.8 percent for four years, with rates reaching 100 percent by the sixth year. The district also reported a 93.2 percent attendance rate, compared to the state average of 82.9 percent, and nearly every student—98.8 percent—has an Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP). All kindergarten students were assessed for school readiness.

Post-graduation follow-up data showed that 39 percent of graduates pursued college, 23 percent entered the workforce, and 17 percent joined the military or other service programs. The district earned 100 percent of possible points in DESE’s “Continuous Improvement” category, which measures leadership, planning, and compliance.

Overall, Palmyra earned 169 out of 196 total points, placing it in the “on track” range and one of the higher-scoring districts in Northeast Missouri. The results reflect consistent achievement across subjects, high attendance, and continued success in preparing students for life after graduation.
