Maple Lawn Auxiliary Holds Meeting
The Maple Lawn Auxiliary held its regular monthly meeting at 1:30 pm February 26, 2026, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in the private dining room. Ten members answered rollcall with their response to “What do you like best about February?” The gem of the day was “The blue pearl is the gem of the day. Queen of gems and rich history of all earth pearls.”
President Janet Taylor called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the January 29 meeting were read by Secretary Wendy Nelson and
approved. Treasurer Ruth Hoehne presented the financial report, and it was approved.
In old business, the February bake sale raised $1057.71. The roll-on weight scale and
dementia fidget board for the SLU wing have been received. The wheelchair hooded capes have been received. A new salon chair was ordered as the old chair was unrepairable. Work continues with the updates to the kitchenette in the SLU wing.
In new business, state inspectors were onsite for four days in January. New ice makers for the resident wings have been purchased. Work continues replacing the sprinkler system. The next fundraising bake sale will be on April 3 at 1:00 p.m. May 16 is the tentative date for the car show.
Activities Director Alice Humprey provided an update on resident activities. Maple Lawn will host Palmyra Panther Day on Tuesday, March 10 at 1:30 in the Activities Room. It will be a celebration of the legacy of Palmyra Panther basketball players and coaches. The Palmyra Monopoly game will be played. Refreshments will be served. Past coaches, players, and family members are invited to attend.
There will be a St Patrick’s Day celebration for the residents March 17. The annual Easter Egg hunt will be March 28. The Auxiliary voted to provide funds for the candy for this event.
Barb Smith presented the program, a lovely reading about gifts you can give that you do not purchase by author Barbara Johnson.
The meeting was adjourned and delicious refreshments provided by Host Ruth Hoehne were enjoyed.
The next meeting will be held Thursday, March 26, 2026. The host will be Maple Lawn
