Palmyra Falls to Moberly

PALMYRA — Palmyra couldn’t overcome an early deficit Saturday, falling to Moberly by a 5-1 score.
Moberly struck first in the opening inning, using a groundout to bring home a run, then added to the lead in the second. A run-scoring single and a Palmyra error helped push the advantage to 3-0 early.
Palmyra struggled to generate offense against Moberly pitching, which limited scoring chances throughout the game. The lone run came on an
RBI from Max Heimer, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap.
Leadoff hitter Rylan Compton paced Palmyra at the plate, collecting two hits in four at-bats.
On the mound, Ty Haskins took the loss, working four innings while allowing four runs, two of them earned. He struck out two and walked
three.
Palmyra’s offense was held in check most of the day, managing just a pair of hits against a strong Moberly pitching performance.
