Palmyra Rallies Past South Callaway

Palmyra overcame an early deficit and picked up a 10-8 win over South Callaway on Saturday, improving to 15-7 heading into the final week of the regular season.
The Panthers scored first when Raeson Miller doubled and later came home on an error in the first inning. Palmyra added another run in the third when Rylan Compton singled and Bryant Horstmeier drove him in with a base hit to center.
South Callaway answered with six runs in the bottom of the third to take a 6-2 lead, but Palmyra began working its way back in the fourth. Brady Cook singled, Rafe Jones and Henley Snow walked, and Miller delivered a bases-clearing double to pull the Panthers within 6-5.
After South Callaway stretched the lead to 8-5, Palmyra took control in the sixth. Jones and Snow reached, Miller doubled in a run, Horstmeier walked and Logan Kroeger delivered the decisive swing, a grand slam to center field that put the Panthers ahead 10-8.
Miller led Palmyra with three hits and four RBIs. Kroeger drove in four with the grand slam, while Horstmeier and Cook each had two hits.
Compton earned the win on the mound, going all seven innings. He allowed seven hits and eight runs, only two earned, while striking out two.
