Shelbina OES Chapter Holds Meeting
Shelbina Chapter #159 OES held a stated meeting on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, with 14 members and guests present. Chapter was opened in regular form with Joyce Viloria, WM presiding. Other officers present were Charles Rosenkrans, WP; Nancy Thorndyke, AM; Lois Turner, Secy; Carla Schoenborn, Cond Pro Tem; JoAnn Robuck, A. Cond. Pro Tem; Leslie Rosenkrans, Chaplain; Mary Davis, Marshal; Linda Cullifer, Organist; Mary Ellen Parsons, Adah; Kay Robertson, Ruth; Jerry Bridges, Martha, Larry Robertson, Warder Pro Tem and Eric Davis, Sentinel Pro Tem. All present repeated the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the National Anthem.
Prior to the opening of the meeting, Elaine Lochman was introduced behind the alter and escorted to the East for Grand Honors. She was presented with a 50-year membership by Marilyn Wenneker. WM read a proclamation from Grand Chapter. Elaine was initiated June 7, 1976, into Philadelphia #517, later affiliating with Constellation, Lighthouse and Shelbina. Elaine and Marilyn, a 52-year member, are the last two members who affiliated from Philadelphia Chapter. Family members present were Elaine’s husband, brother and his wife and daughter and Marilyn’s daughter.
Distinguished members introduced informally were Grand Representatives Carla Schoenborn, Wisconsin and Jerry Bridges, California. WM was JoAnn Robuck of Cairo #181 and PM was Kay Robertson of LaBelle #316 and PP Larry Robertson, LaBelle #316.
Minutes of the meeting of May 27 were read and approved. The Secretary reported 82 members have paid their dues and 9 suspension notices were sent. A 100th birthday card was sent to Alvina Dotson and a 90th birthday card was sent to Charles Rosenkrans.
Communications were read from Grand Chapter Finance Committee anticipating an increase in per capita tax to cover the expenses of Grand Chapter. This will be brought up at Grand Chapter in October. Members were reminded that Kirksville #184 will present a 70-year membership pin on June 22 and the annual 6th District picnic will be on Saturday, June 27 at the Kribbs home at 6:00.
Mary Ellen Parsons was introduced and escorted to the East and presented with a 65-year membership pin by Jerry Bridges. Mary Ellen was initiated June 1, 1976, into Bowling Green #457, later affiliating with Constellation, Lighthouse and eventually Shelbina. She served as WM 9 times, DDGM twice, Gr. Representative of Michigan and Grand Esther in 1980.
Birthdays were observed by Mary Ellen Parson and Charles Rosenkrans with all singing Happy Birthday. Charles and Leslie thanked the members who came to his party and shared the day with him.
Chapter closed in regular form. Prior to the meeting members and guests enjoyed a sandwich, salad and dessert carry in. Refreshment committee for June 24 will be a sandwich, salad and dessert carry-in for Friendship Night at 6:30
