Douglass Community Services Foundation Awards 2026 Scholarships in Three Area Graduates
HANNIBAL, MO – [06/23/2026] The Douglass Community Services Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 Foundation Scholarships: Wesley
Summers, Micah Daniels, and Zackaria French. Each recipient exemplifies the
scholarship’s mission of supporting graduating seniors pursuing non-traditional post-
secondary pathways, including technical education, workforce development, and
career-focused training programs.
The Douglass Community Services Foundation Scholarship was established to assist students who are pursuing two-year colleges, technical and trade schools, apprenticeships, certificate programs, or direct entry into the workforce. Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, tools, equipment, transportation, technology, uniforms, or other expenses that help students successfully transition into their chosen
careers.
“These students have demonstrated a strong commitment to their communities, a clear
vision for their futures, and the determination to pursue meaningful career paths,” said the Douglass Community Services Board of Directors. “We are honored to support
their educational and professional goals and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make in our communities.”
Wesley Summers
A graduate of Palmyra High School, Wesley Summers plans to attend State Technical College of Missouri in Linn, Missouri, where he has been accepted into the Electrical Distribution Systems Program to become a lineman. Following completion of the program, Wesley hopes to gain experience working as a lineman before eventually joining an electrical cooperative and continuing his family’s farming legacy. As a seventh-generation member of his family’s farm, Wesley is committed to keeping the operation active for future generations.
Throughout high school, Wesley has been deeply involved in his community through
St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he participates in youth group activities, serves
as an altar server, volunteers with parish service projects, and assists with church events. He is also a four-year member of FFA, a former 4-H member, and has
worked in agricultural and construction-related positions while balancing his education.
Scholarship funds will assist Wesley with the purchase of specialized climbing
equipment required for the lineman program, equipment expected to cost approximately $3,500. The scholarship will help reduce the financial burden
associated with beginning his technical education and career training.
Micah Daniels
Micah Daniels, a graduate from the Ralls County School District, plans to begin his career by working for a local fence-building company before enrolling at State Technical College of Missouri to pursue an associate degree in Utility Construction.
Micah’s commitment to service is evident through more than 300 hours of community involvement during his high school career. He has served as a youth football coach, helping young athletes develop leadership, teamwork, and character. Through Student Council, he participated in activities supporting local veterans, Special
Olympics athletes, and community events. He
has also volunteered at blood drives, local
park projects, youth sports programs, and numerous community initiatives.
Scholarship funds will help offset housing and college-related expenses as Micah begins his studies. With housing costs alone approaching $750 per month, the
scholarship will provide meaningful support as he works toward his educational goals while helping reduce financial pressures on his family.
Zackaria French
Zackaria French, a graduate of Hannibal
High School, plans to attend John Wood
Community College to earn an associate
degree in Fire Science. His goal is to pursue a career as a firefighter
or in a related public safety profession.
Zackaria has already demonstrated
a strong interest in emergency services
by job shadowing with the Hannibal
Fire Department. His commitment to
community involvement includes serving as Vice President of the Hannibal High School Environmental Club, participating in volunteer projects through FFA, and actively participating in his church youth group. Through these experiences, he has contributed to environmental stewardship efforts, community service projects, and leadership activities throughout the Hannibal area.
Scholarship funds will help Zackaria purchase a laptop and assist with transportation expenses as he commutes to and from college. The support will also help cover educational expenses not fully funded through financial aid.
Investing in the Future
The Douglass Community Services Foundation remains committed to investing in local students whose career aspirations help strengthen the workforce and communities
throughout Northeast Missouri. By supporting students pursuing technical training,
skilled trades, public service careers, and workforce development opportunities, the
Foundation seeks to remove financial barriers and encourage long-term success.
The Foundation congratulates Wesley Summers, Micah Daniels, and Zackaria French on their achievements and wishes them continued success as they pursue their educational and career goals.
