Great River Alumni Chapter Awards Over $30,000 in Scholarships at Mizzou Send-Off

Mizzou Great River Alumni Chapter hosted its annual send-off for its local students in Missouri and Illinois preparing for another year in Columbia or, for others, their first year.

Coach Shannon Welker, Mizzou’s Gymnastics coach, and Abbey Schreacke (Quincy, Illinois), a Senior and Starter for Mizzou’s Basketball Team during her Junior year, both presented speeches to the attendees. Schreacke made sure to highlight the accomplishment of acquiring five freshmen and three transfer students for the team that will bring power and height. Another athletic highlight from the area was Kyrie Wilkerson, Hannibal, who has joined the Mizzou Cheer team starting this fall. He will be performing starting in football this fall.

With 53 students attending the send-off from the area, the chapter almost broke its record last year. The chapter gave out 12 $1,000 and 26 $500 scholarships to the students to help with tuition and textbook expenses.
