We had a typical Missouri week for the Marion County Fair. Tuesday was 95 degrees, and the rabbits and poultry suffered at the fair. Then, Wednesday brought rain and cool temperatures, and the weather was ideal for the swine, goat, sheep, and cattle shows held later in the week.
On Saturday night, Rachel and my grandsons brought home a Fair Food buffet for me—a lemon shake-up, cozy spuds (seasoned spiral cut fried potatoes), and a funnel cake. It was delicious, and the boys helped me finish what I couldn’t eat!
Area children of all ages enjoyed the Marion County Fair this week. Luke, Jacob, and Elijah were pleased to show their turkeys, geese, ducks, goats, and cattle. Rachel was very grateful for all the help she and the boys received from other 4-H families in moving the animals in, out, and around the fair facilities. Luke was excited that he got to show a judge in the 4-H building how he could walk on the stilts that he made! The boys spoke on KICK FM radio on Saturday evening about their 4-H experience, and they were thrilled to talk about their projects.
Congratulations to the Joe and Jerilyn Yackley Family who were chosen to be the Marion County State Fair Farm Family.
I was very sorry to hear about the death of Janet Klocke. Janet and I had many nice visits over the years. She cared about others and was a great support to her community.
Continued prayers are requested for John Bartz, III and Lily Roberts.
It is a relief the Canadian smoke is clearing up!. It made the moon turn a beautiful shade of red in the evenings, but the hazy days were a little worrying!
Thank you for the lovely cards and prayers during my time of illness. They are day brighteners!
Happy Birthday to Tom Carter!
“That August time it was delight. To watch the red moons wane to white.” Algernon Charles Swinburne
