Area Fire Departments Receive State Grant Funding
Two Marion County fire departments have received matching grant funding through the Missouri Departmentof Conservation’s Volunteer Fire Assistance program.
Marion County R-II Fire Department & First Responders received a $2,625 matching grant toward the purchase of 10 Minitor pagers. The department spent $5,250 on the equipment.
The Palmyra Fire Protection District received a $9,023.30 matching grant toward the purchase of five VHF Kenwood radios, four dual-bank chargers, two sets of coats and pants, and two sets of helmets and boots. The department spent $18,046.60.
Statewide, 126 fire departments received funding through this year’s program. The grants reimburse up to $10,000 and are intended to help rural fire departments purchase personal protective equipment, communications equipment and wildfire or structural fire suppression equipment.
