After some hot, humid days this week, we received nice rain showers today! Some of the mulberries are ripe, and a doe with triplet fawns has been
spending time near our driveway. South Union Baptist Church met for worship today, and Brother Dan’s message was “All Creation Speaks” from Psalm 19:1-6. The Sunday School children learned about James, the half-brother of Jesus; and they made “Fruit of the Spirit” trees.
Mark your calendars for the upcoming patriotic Flag Day Service on June
14th and the special Father’s Day Service on June 21st! Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m.! Looking ahead, the Associational Hymn Sing will be at South Union on September 8 at 7 p.m. with a fellowship to follow!
I was sorry to hear of the death of Helen Roush Szabo. Helen lived in Emerson for many years and had recently been living in Washington, Missouri, near her daughter, Lena. Many in the area know Helen’s children–Marie, David, Lena, and Jenny—who attended school in Philadelphia, and
David recently retired after teaching math and coaching softball at Higbee High School for more than 30 years. Helen’s Memorial Service is scheduled for July 9th in Washington, Missouri.
Rick and Mavoureen Meyer and the Brent and Kylee Meyer family travelled to Ohio to attend the wedding of Faith Zimmerman, who is the daughter
of Sarah and Ryan Zimmerman and the granddaughter of Rick and Mavoureen. Faith and her new husband, Brendan Ferretti, both recently
graduated from the United States Naval Academy and have been commissioned as officers in the United States Navy!
Congratulations to Delaina Meyer and Emma Meyer, who were selected for the Missouri High School Rodeo National Team. They will compete at
the National High School Rodeo Finals in July in Nebraska.
Congratulations also to Ruby and Donovan Meyer, who were selected for
the Missouri Junior High School Rodeo National Team. They will compete at the National Junior High School Rodeo Finals later this month in Oklahoma. Delaina, Emma, Donovan, and Ruby are the children of Brent
and Kylee Meyer and the grandchildren of Rick and Mavoureen Meyer.
Luke, Jacob, and Elijah got the chance to help a cow who was struggling to
calve on Friday night; and Luke and Jacob, under the supervision of Dr.
Stacy Griesbaum with Canton Veterinary Clinic, pulled the bull calf, which the boys immediately named “Cody.” Thank you to Dr. Stacy, who came to the farm and exercised great patience with the boys’ questions and excitement!
Happy 35th Wedding Anniversary to Rodney and Terri Bringer, and Happy
Birthday to Bobby Shepherd!
