PHS girls tennis team goes to 2-0

The PHS varsity girls tennis team went to 2-0 on the season with a 9-0 victory against Battle in Columbia last Saturday.

Winning singles matches were Katy Rindom, 8-0; Maura Gottman, 8-4; Jaynee Durst, 8-1; Reese Gottman, 8-2; Bianca Perkins, 8-3; and Rylee Ingram, 8-0.

Doubles winners were Rindom and Maura Gottman, 8-3; Durst and Ingram, 8-1; and Abbey Mann and Ava Browning, 8-3.

The Lady Panthers opened the season with a 7-2 win at Moberly Sept. 1.

Winning singles matches were Rindom, 9-7; Maura Gottman, 8-2; Durst, 8-4; and Reese Gottman, 8-3.

Winning doubles matches were Rindom and Maura Gottman, 8-2; Durst and Ingram, 8-2; and Perkins and Reese Gottamn, 9-8, 8-6T.

The JV squad also won, 4-3, to go 1-0 on the season.

Winning doubles matches were Blaize Bross and Brooke Sullivan, 6-2; Ashley Bode and Hailee Bergheger, 6-2; Elizabeth Salo and Jaynee Price-Brocksmith, 6-2; and Dorian Sheputis and Natalie Bartz, 6-2.

Both matches this week against Fulton and Kirksville were postponed due to rain, and a match Sept. 3 against Hannibal is also being rescheduled.

This week, the Lady Panthers were scheduled to play at Jefferson City Helias, Monday, at home against Mexico, Tuesday and at the Marshall Tournament Saturday.
