PHS CC teams compete

The PHS cross country teams competed at a meet in Kirksville Saturday.

“We just ran a few kids, since we had some injuries and soreness, but the kids who ran did awesome,” said Coach Nicholas Koetters. “We set goals for a lot of them, and for the most part they met or far surpassed those goals, so we were super thrilled.”

Also competing at the meet were Columbia-Hickman, Southern Boone, Kirksville and Brashear.

Casey Hathaway led the boys team with a 14th place finishin out of 23 runners. Also competing were Connor Bross, 18th; Caleb Juette, 19th; and Talon Markley, 22nd.

Lydia Szarka and Lydia Gard raced for the girls taking 13th and 19th places respectively out of 19 runners.

Palmyra also hosted a quad meet Thursday, with Marion County, Monroe City and Macon competing.

Hathaway led the boys with a fourth place finish behind three from Monroe City.

Lauren Sheputis led the girls with a fourth-place finish behind Marion County’s Delaney Straus and two runners from Monroe City.
