Palmyra to host Centralia for CCC championship
The Panthers home football game Friday against Centralia is for the Clarence Cannon Conference championship.
It’s also a battle of state titan unbeatens as Palmyra comes in as the top ranked Class 2 team in the state at 8-9, to play the Class 3 fifth-ranked team at 7-0.
Both are 4-0 in the conference after having two of their league games canceled due to COVID-19.
Centralia comes into the contest following a 34-18 win at home over Macon Friday.
They also have conference wins over Brookfield (20-0), Monroe City (18-0) and Clark County (44-6).
Centralia also earned victories over Hallsville, 34-28 and Cuba, 50-12, and managed to keep their undefeated record with 24-22 victory at Bowling Green.
The outcome will not affect Palmyra’s top-seeding in Class 2, District 6, and will earn a first-round bye for next Friday.
