Lady Mustangs headed to state cross country meet

The Marion County R-II girls cross country team advanced to this week’s state meet with a second-place performance at district’s Saturday.

The Lady Mustangs scored 42 points to finish only behind Salisbury with 33 during the Class 1 District 3 meet at the Pike County Fairgrounds near Bowling Green.

Delaney Straus was the top individual with a time of 20:19.37.

Also competing for Marion County were: Triston Holt, eighth, 23:57.88; Olivia Wood, 11th, 24:08.36; Riley Donath, 21st, 26:35.78; Madison Stewart, 26:53.38; and Rachel Byers, 28:33.81.

The Lady Mustangs will compete Saturday in the Class 1 girls state meet with a starting time of 1:30 p.m. at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia.
