Mustangs fall to Atlanta, Mark Twain

The Marion County R-II varsity boys basketball team suffered home losses to Atlanta and Mark Twain last week.

The Mustangs (1-14) fell behind early Tuesday to Atlanta, which led 37 to 11 at the half, before going on a 21-7 third-quarter run to put the game out of reach.

Scoring for Marion County were Wyatt Goldinger, seven, Spencer Whetstone, seven, Nathan Wellman, six, Jackson Stewart, four, Landen Holt, four, Cooper Stotts, three, and Root Cheney, one.

The Mustangs also fell behind early and could not catch up in a 62-42 loss to Mark Twain, Friday.

Scoring for Marion County were Stotts, 11, Cheney, 10, Whetstone, 10, Stewart, five, Holt, four, and Wellman, two.

This week, the Mustangs were scheduled to travel to Scotland County, Monday, and Paris, Tuesday, before hosting Silex for homecoming, Saturday.
