Lady Mustangs perform well at Clark County

The Marion County R-II girls track and field team won three events and took seventh place in a 10-team field at Clark County last Tuesday.

Marion County’s Delaney Straus runs the 1,600 meters at Clark County, finishing second to Brookfield’s Alex Sharp.

Four Lady Mustangs scored points in eight events to accumulate 60 points to beat out Green City (51), Scotland County (20) and Canton (15). The host team won with 134.5 points.

Placing first for Marion County were Delaney Straus in the long jump, Halle Keilholz in the javelin and Tristen Holt in the high jump.

Scoring points for Marion County were:

Straus, first place in the long jump at 10.41 meters; second place in the 1,600 meters at 5:37 (losing to Brookfield’s Alex Sharp at 5:22.78); third place in the 400 meters at 1:04.51; third place in the 200 meters at 28.51;

Keilholz, first place in the javelin at 29.10 meters; fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles at 19.81; seventh place in the long jump at 8.55 meters;  and eighth place in the 300 meter hurdles at 1:02.20; and

Holt, first place in the high jump at 1.40 meters.

Straus won four events at the Palmyra Panther open Friday, taking the triple jump and the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 meters.

Holt took second in the high jump, while Keilholz placed sixth in the 100 meter hurdles and eighth in the 300 meter hurdles.
