The PHS boys track and field team took fifth place at the 13-team Gerald Mansfield Invitational meet in Macon Tuesday.
The Panthers scored 50 points to finish behind Kirksville (122), Monroe City (74), Putnam County (63) and Macon (58), but ahead of Father Tolton Regional Catholic (41, Moberly (41), South Shelby (35), Paris (25.5) Brookfield (15), Bevier (14), Marceline (13), Salisbury (11.50) and Schuyler County (six).
Scoring points for Palmyra were:
Hayes Miller, second place in the 400 meters at 52.98; third place in the 100 meters at 11:48 and fifth place in the long jump at 5.35 meters;
Abe Haerr, second place in the high jump at 1.87 meters; and third place in the 800 meters at 2:02.15;
Weston King, third place in the discus at 44.59 meters and fourth place in the shot put at 14.19 meters;
Carson Hicks, fourth place in the high jump at 1.87 meters;
the fourth place 4 x 400 meter relay team of Miller, Gideon Bogue, Hicks and Haerr at 3:37.28;
Connor Bross, sixth place in the 3,200 meters at 12:17.17; and
the sixth place 4 x 800 meter relay team of Caleb Juette, Hicks, Bross and Dakota Snyder at 9:45.49.
Districts at Monroe City
The PHS track teams will compete in the Class 2, District 4 meet May 8 and hosted this year by Monroe City.
Also competing in the district are Brookfield, Clark County, Louisiana, Marceline, Mark Twain, Milan, Monroe City, Putnam County, Salisbury, South Shelby, Van-Far and Westran.
