PHS girls track team qualifies for eight state events

Twelve members of the PHS girls track and field team qualified for the state meet in eight events during Class 2 Sectionals in Monroe City Saturday.
“The kids did amazing,” said Coach Nicholas Koetters. “I am very proud of these girls, and they have a great chance going forward and doing well on Friday.”
The Class 2 state meet will be held at Jefferson City High School’s Atkins Field.
To qualify for state, athletes had to finish in the top four at sectionals.
Qualifying for state from Palmyra were:
Mallory Sublette, first place in the triple jump at 33 feet, 11.25 inches;
Candra King, second place in the discus at 117 feet and third place in the shot put at 34 feet. 6.25 inches;
Abbey Redd, second place in the pole vault at 10 feet, seven inches;
Chloe Hicks, second place in the high jump at four feet, nine inches;
Alaina Loman, third place in the pole vault at 9 feet, eight inches;
the third-place 4 x 200 meter relay team of Grace Krigbaum, Sophie Hoerr, Sublette and Taytum White at 1:52.63;
the third-place 4 x 400 meter relay team of Laurin Sheputis, Alaina Loman, Sublette and White at 4:23.70;
Dyoni Mundy, fourth place in the high jump at four feet, seven inches; and
the fourth-place 4 x800 meter relay team of Sheputis, Jeorgia O’Brien, Bella Perkins and Loman at 10:41.65.
