PHS softball team downs Louisiana, Mark Twain behind Gottman’s no-hitters

The PHS varsity softball team went 2-0 last week with victories over Louisiana and Mark Twain.
Jazlin Gottman tossed a no-hitter as the Lady Panthers capped the week with a 10-0 win in the home opener Thursday.

The senior right-hander struck out 11 and walked two over six innings for the victory.
Jazlin Gottman was one of two seniors honored along with their parents during traditional pre-game senior night ceremonies Thursday.
Meanwhile, the offense banged out eight hits and took away any suspense by scoring two runs in the first, three in the
second and one in the third before ending the game in the bottom of the sixth with four.
Abbey Redd went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and RBI and a stolen base, while Alaina Loman provided the walk-off two-run single in the sixth.
Also getting hits were Hailey Kroeger, a double, along with Gottman, Jenna McVeigh, Anna Ragar and Bella McBride.
It was senior night and the two seniors, Gottman and Jansen Juette, were honored along with their parents.
Gottman also didn’t allow a hit in an 8-1 victory at Louisiana last Tuesday.

Gottman struck out five and walked four while giving up just one unearned run which scored on a walk, passed ball, a stolen base and a wild pitch in the fourth.
Loman led Palmyra’s eight-hit attack, going 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI, while Kroeger contributed a two-run double.
This week, the Lady Panthers were scheduled to host LaPlata, Tuesday and Monroe City, Thursday.
