Palmyra’s state-bound tennis pair took fifth place at the Class 1 MSHSAA Girls Individual Tennis Championships in Springfield Friday and Saturday.

Katy Rindom and Maura Gottman went 4-1, and their only loss came against the eventual state champions.
The pair won their first match, 6-3, 6-4, over Bolivar’s McKinley Hedges and Brynley Waters.
They then lost in the quarterfinals, 5-7, 2-6, against North County’s Lauren Politte and Hanna Politte, who went on to win out for the state title.
Rindom and Gottman bounced back to win their final three matches, 6-2, 6-1, over Willow Springs’ McKylile Cox and Madisyn Perkins; 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 over Cape Girardeau’s Megan Gullette and Amina Hussein and St. Michael the Archangel’s Sophia Swingle and Anna Gaffney.
