The PHS girls tennis team’s season came to an end in the Class 1 Sectionals Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers fell one step short of the state quarterfinals after losing, 5-1, to Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis.
The only match victory for Palmyra was by the doubles pair of Katy Rindom and Maura Gottman, 9-7, over Keely O’Meara and Ava Hornburg.
Westminster went on to beat Clayton, 5-2, in sectionals and will play in the state quarter finals in Springfield later this week against Bishop LeBlond.
Also in the quarterfinals are Kennett and Bolivar.
