R-II cross country teams qualify three for state meet

The Marion County R-II boys and girls cross country teams qualified three athletes for the MSHSAA state championships.

Delaney Straus
Delaney Straus qualified for the state meet for the fourth time, while Levi Wright and Porter Britt qualified for the boys.

Levi Wright
Srauss finished the Class 1, District 3 meet in Linn with a time of 22:30.50, good enough for fourth place out of 73 runners.
Smithton’s Riley Bryan blew the competition away with a first-place time of 18.54:60.
Other Lady Mustangs running were Riley Donath, 31st place, 26:03.00; Tristen Holt, 32nd, 26:34.50; Olivia Wood, 33rd, 26:41.00; and Madison Stewart, 60th, 30:10.40.
The Lady Mustangs, as a team, finished in fifth place behind Glasgow, New Haven, Smithton and Calvery Lutheran.
Wright led the boys with a time of 18:20.60, to finish in fifth place, while Britt came in 25th with a time of 19:45.90.
Other boys competing were Joey Lageman, 49th, 20:47.10; Jackson Stewart, 51st, 21:05.30; Shawn Martin, 52nd, 21:11.10; Mason Wood, 60th, 21:39.00; and Rheo Schluckebier, 72nd, 23:01.80.

Porter Britt
As a team, the Mustangs finished in fifth place behind Hermitage, Wellsville-Middleton, New Haven and Macks Creek.
The Class 1 state meet will be held this Saturday at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia.
