The Marion County R-II boys basketball team went into this week’s Monroe City Tournament on the strength of their first victory of the season.
After losing their season opener, 66-58, at Community last Tuesday, the Mustangs went on the road again for a 58-41 victory at Bevier, Thursday.
The Mustangs took control from the start, opening with an 18-8 run and going into halftime with a commanding 39-14 lead.

But they could not get any closer and were out-scored 36-31 the rest of the way.
