The PHS boys and girls wrestling team competed in the Battle At the Katy Trail Tournament along with a multitude of teams from around the state, Friday and Saturday in Marshall.

Palmyra placed 10th out of 41 teams including Mid-Buchanan, which took the title.

Four Panthers placed in the top 10 including Collin Arch, first place, Luke Triplett, second, Brayden Stevens, seventh, and Brayden Pillars, eight place.

Arch won all five of his matches in the 138-pound class including three by fall. He won the title match by an 8-1 decision over Trenton’s Hunter McAtee.

Triplett won his first three matches in the 220-pound class, two of them by fall, before losing the title match by a 3-2 decision to Trenton’s Caleb Johnson.

Stevens won his seventh-place match in the 152-pound class by fall over Maysville’s Brenden Barton.

Brayden Pillars went 3-3, losing his eighth-place match in the 145-pound class by fall to North Callaway’s Blake Whipple.

The Panthers battled Knob Noster and Blair Oaks, Tuesday, spitting the two duals.

Palmyra edged Knob Noster 37-34, with Palmyra winning six of the nine actual matches.

Winning were:

Arch (145) by fall over Eric Bennett-Wade;

Audrin McElvain (120) 11-7  over Landon Wirtz;

Pillars (138) by fall over Nathan McDonald;

Daylen Stevens (152) by a 20-10 major decision over Reece Cruz;

Jayden Sharrow (170) by fall over Rhett Grotjan; and

Jose Juarez (220) by fall over Zayne Schroeder.

The Panthers went 2-5 in actual matches in their 51-30 loss to Blair Oaks.

Winning matches were:

Juarez (220) by fall over Carson Rustemeyer; and

Triplett (285) by fall over Austin Stanley.

The Lady Panthers lost their duals to Blair Oaks and Knob Noster.

Ellyse Loronson won the only individual match by fall over Skye Schurbert of Blair Oaks.
