PHS wrestlers host North Point, compete at Brookfield Tournament

PHS wrestlers hosted a dual against North Point and competed at the Gary Haag Invitational Tournament in Brookfield this past week.
The Panthers tied for seventh place with Holden out of 20 teams during the tournament in Brookfield Saturday, scoring 32 points in the event won by Blair Oaks with 57 points.

Palmyra’s Anna Ragar defeated her opponent from North Point by fall during a home meet Wednesday held in the middle school gym. Her teammate, Grace Fessenden also won her match.
Collin Arch led the Panthers by winning all five of his matches to take first place in the 138-pound weight class.
The junior won two of his matches by fall, two others by technical fall and another by a major decision and is now 31-0 this season.
He won the title match by a 15-1 major decision over Trenton’s Hunter McAttee.
Luke Lawson also placed first in the 106B weight class, winning both of his matches.
Placing third for Palmyra were Audrin McElvain (120 pounds), Brayden Pillars (132), Evan Pennewell, (126B), Jayden Sharrow (170B), Jose Juarez (195B).

Senior members of the PHS wrestling squad were honored prior to Wednesday’s match. including Audrey Summers, manager, Nolyn Richards and Luke Triplett.
Placing fourth were Luke Triplett (220) and Nolyn Richards (285).
Ashton Hankins took fifth in the 152B weight class.
Palmyra went 8-2 in a ctual matches in defeating North Point, 43-24, in a dual held in the middle school gymnasium Tuesday.
Winning their matches were:
McElvain (120) by a 12-3 major decision over Parker Tieman;
Pennewell (126) by fall, over Loganb Blaise;
Pillars (132) by an 11-4 decision over Leo Buchheit;
Arch (138) by fall over Logan Redel;
Sharrow (165) by fall over Domenic Colombatto;
Juarez (190) by fall over Logan Schmidt; and
Triplett (215) by fall over Jimmy Thompson.
