The Marion County R-II boys basketball team fell to Mark Twain and Atlanta on the road last week.
Mark Twain jumped out to a 20-11 lead and held off the Mustangs (4-12) to win 72-53 Friday.
Joey Lagemann scored 21 points to lead Marion County, sinking eight field goals including three from outside the arc.
Also scoring for the Mustangs were Caden Stotts, nine, Cooper Stotts, eight, Wyatt Goldinger, seven, Jackson Stewart, six, and Porter Britt, two.
Three-three of Marion County’s points came from three-pointers.
The Mustangs stayed with Atlanta for early, going into the second quarter tied at 17, but the visitors out-scored the Mustangs 49-26 in the second and third quarters to win 76-42, Tuesday.
Scoring for Marion County were Lagemann, 13, Goldinger, eight, Cooper Stotts, seven, Caden Stotts, six, Stewart, five, and Root Cheney, three.
This week, the Mustangs were scheduled to host Scotland County, Monday and Paris, Tuesday, before traveling to Silex, Saturday.
