The Marion County R-II boys basketball team held on for their fifth victory of the season, 46-43, at home over Paris last Tuesday.
The Mustangs (5-13) used four three-pointers to get out to an early 16-13 lead, and got four more to go into halftime up 30-24.
Paris out-scored the Mustangs 19-16 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to catch Marion County.
Joey Lagemann hit three of the team’s 12 three-pointers and led all scorers with 17 points.
Also contributing on offense were Jackson Stewart, 11, Cooper Stotts, nine, Caden Stotts, six, and Wyatt Goldinger, three.
The day before, Marion County lost a close one, 42-36, at home to Scotland County.
The Mustangs had a 22-16 lead at the half before being out-scored, 26-14, the rest of the way.
Scoring for Marion County were Lagemann, 11, Stewart, seven, Goldinger, seven, Caden Stotts, six, and Cooper Stotts, five.
The Mustangs are competing in the Brashear Tournament this week.
