PHS girls fall short to South Shelby

The PHS varsity girls basketball team could not slow down a high scoring South Shelby squad, falling, 76-55, at home Saturday.

The Lady Panthers (14-7), trailed by just three going into the final period when the Lady Birds went on a 26-8 game-ending run.
The loss dropped Palmyra to 3-2 in the Clarence Cannon Conference with just two more league games to play.
Scoring for Palmyra were Clare Williams, 15, Candra King, 13, Abbey Redd, nine, Taytum White, nine, Jansen Juette, eight, and Sydney Compton, one.
The game against South Shelby had been originally scheduled for Friday, but was postponed due to the snow.
The Lady Panthers opened the week with a convincing 61-37 win at Clark County, Tuesday.
Palmyra got out to leads of 17-8 and 28-16 before out-scoring Clark County 23-10 in the third quarter.

The Lady Panthers enjoyed balanced scoring from White, 13, Williams, 12, King, 11, Redd, 10, Compton, six, Ashley Bode, five, and
Jaynee Durst, four.
The game was moved up to 5 p.m. in order to beat the incoming snow storm.
The Lady Panthers were also supposed to host Kirksville Wednesday, but the game was postponed.
Palmyra continues conference play this week at Monroe City, Tuesday, before hosting Bowling Green in the annual Pink Out the Gym Night game.
They then complete the regular season the following week by traveling to Hannibal, Feb. 15, and hosting Highland for the CCC finale, Thursday.
