The Marion County R-II boys basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 72-46 loss to Brashear in the quarterfinals of the Class 1, District 11 Tournament in LaPlata last Monday.
The fifth-seeded Mustangs (5-17) fell behind early and were never able to recover, going into halftime down by nine and by 22 entering the final quarter.
The Mustangs were unable to slow down Brandon Jochimsen, who sank 15 field goals in scoring a game-high 35 points for fourth-seeded Brashear.
Scoring for Marion County were Wyatt Goldinger, 12, Cooper Stotts, 12, Spencer Whetstone, eight, Joey Lagemann, eight, Root Cheney, three, Porter Britt, two, and Jackson Stewart, one.
Brashear advanced to the semifinals and lost 73-44 to top-seeded North Shelby Wednesday. The Raiders won the title game, 65-47, to advance to the Class 1 sectionals.
