The Marion County R-II baseball team won a wild one, 12-11 at home over Van-Far, last Monday, to go 5-2 on the season.
The Mustangs had leads of 6-2 and 10-4, but came to bat down by one going into the bottom of the seventh.
Shawn Martin led off the inning by reaching on an error, stole second and scored on Joey Lagemann’s single to right.
Spencer Whetstone then reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second and after walks to Jackson Stewart and Cooper Stotts, scored when Root Cheney reached on an error, ending the game.
Lagemann started on the mound and was relieved by Porter Britt and Cooper Stotts.
Lagemann and Cheney lead the team’s nine-hit attack with two hits each, while Whetstone contributed the team’s only extra base hit, a double.
The Mustangs were also scheduled to play at Green City Wednesday, but the game was washed out.
This week, the Mustangs are scheduled to travel to Brasher, Monday, and host North Shelby, Thursday, and Missouri Military Academy, Friday.
