The PHS varsity boys golf team took third place at its own invitational tournament at the Jackson Park course Wednesday.

Palmyra’s Aaron Ritchey makes an approach shot on the ninth hole at the Jackson Park Golf Course during a cool, rainy Palmyra Invitational Tournament last Wednesday.
Playing on a cold, rainy day, the Panthers shot a 183 to finish behind South Shelby, 161, and Monroe City, 179, but ahead of Mexico, 186, Canton, 189, Highland, 189, Clark County, 194, and Louisiana, 202, Van-Far, 225.
Scoring for Palmyra were Jonas Janes, 43, Aaron Ritchey, 46, Dreighton Sprinkle, 46, Laydin Lochman, 48, and Brett Tuter, 53.
All five players on the Cardinal shot 44 or lower with Elijah Kline finished second overall with a 38, and Casen Glover, placing third with a 38.
Canton’s Trevor Biggerstaff won medalist honors with a 37.
The day before, Palmyra hosted two teams an won the event by one stroke over South Shelby, 167-168. Clark County shot a 202.
Lochman and South Shelby’s Kline tied for top honors with 39s.
Also scoring for Palmyra were Ritchey, 41, Sprinkle, 43, and Tuter, 44.
