The PHS girls track and field team took second place at the Class 3, District 4 meet hosted by Montgomery County Saturday.
In addition, nine athletes qualified in 10 events for this Saturday’s Class 3, Sectional 2 meet a Montgomery County.
Qualifying for sectionals were:
Candra King, first place in the discus at 34.59 meters and second place in the shot put at 11.31 meters;
Alaina Loman, first place in the pole vault at 3.24 meters;
Jansen Juette, second place in the triple jump at 10.38 meters;
Abbey Redd, third place in the pole vault at 3.03 meters;
the third place 4 x 800 meter relay team of Loman, Jeorgia O’Brien, Alyssa Noland and Laurin Sheputis at 10:24.62;
Bella McBride, fourth place in the 100 meters at 13.29;
Taytum White, fourth place in the 200 meters at 27.72;
Sheputis, fourth place in the 800 at 2:26.85;
Compton, fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles at 17.21; and
the fourth place 4 x 400 meter relay team of Sheputis, Loman, White and Compton at 4:20.87.
The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Redd, White, Compton and Juette just missed qualifying with a fifth place finish at 1:49.96.
The state meet will be held Adkins Stadium at Jefferson City High School May 27-28.
