PHS girls track team qualifies for state in seven events

The PHS girls qualified for state in seven events, following sectional track and field competition in Montgomery City Saturday.
Heading to the MSHSAA Class 3 Girls Track and Field Championships in Jefferson City this Friday and Saturday are Candra King in two of the throwing events, the 4 x 800 meter relay team, the team’s two pole vaulters, Alaina Loman and Abbey Redd, Jansen Juette in the triple jump and Sydney Compton in the 100 meter hurdles.
Finishing in the top four and qualifying for state were:
King, first place in the discus at 37.86 meters; and second place in the shot put at 11.34 meters;
Loman, first place in the pole vault at 3.24 meters;
Redd, second place in the pole vault at 3.24 meters;
Juette, second place in the triple jump at at 10;44 meters;
Compton, fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles at 17.34; and
the fourth place 4 x 800 meter relay team of Loman, Jeorgia O’Brien, Alyssa Noland and Laurin Sheputis at 10:16.37
Also competing at sectionals but not qualifying for state were:
Sheputis, sixth place in the 800 meters at 2:29.60;
the sixth place 4 x 400 meter relay team of Sheputis, Loman, Taytum White and Compton at 4:19.79;
Bella McBride, seventh place in the 100 meters at 13.75; and
White, eighth place in the 200 meters at 28.28.
