The PHS varsity girls tennis team added three match victories this past week over Hannibal, Kirksville and Father Totton Regional Catholic.

The Lady Panthers capped the week with a 7-1 over Father Tolton, Wednesday.

Winning singles matches were: Maura Gottman (1), 8-6; Molly Gottman (2), 8-6; Jeorgia O’Brien (3), 8-6 (8-6 tiebreaker); and Hadlie Kroeger (4), 8-4.

Winning doubles matches were: Maura Gottman and Molly Gottman (1), 8-1; O’Brien and Abbey Mann (2), 9-7, and Kroeger and Marina Meyer (3), 9-7.

The day before, Palmyra traveled to Kirksville and  won 7-2.

Winning singles matches were; Maura Gottman (1), 8-2, over Lauren Xander; Molly Gottman (2), 8-4, over Katlynn DeLeon; Kroeger (4), 8-5, over Brynn Williams; and Mann (5), 8-2, over Ava Hamlin.

Winning doubles matches were Maura Gottman and Molly Gottman (1), 8-2, over Xander and DeLeon; O’Brien and Mann (2), 8-5, over Madisynn Crawford; and Kroeger and Meyer (3), 8-2, over Hamlin and Ashley Combs.

Palmyra opened the week with an 8-1 win at Hannibal.

Winning singles matches were: Maura Gottman (1), 8-1, over Irelan Lomax; Molly Gottman (2), 8-6, over Brynn Burton; Kroeger (4), 8-8 (8-6), over Olivia Rawlings; Mann (5), 8-3, over Trinity Sutton; and Meyer (6), 8-5, over Sophie Albright.

Winning doubles matches were Maura Gottman and Molly Gottman (1), 8-2, over Lomax and Burton; O’Brien and Mann (2), 8-2, over Rawlings and Laurie Privett; and Kroeger and Meyer (3), 8-0, over Sutton and Albright.   

The Lady Panthers are preparing for team and individual district competition.

Palmyra will compete in Class 1, District 7 along with the host school, North Point High School in Wentzville, Fulton, Mexico and Moberly.

Team districts will be held between Oct. 3 and Oct. 6.

The junior varsity squad went to 9-0 with wins last week over Hannibal, 9-0, Kirksville, 7-1 and Father Tolton, 5-2.
