The PHS varsity softball team had a tough week, going 1-3 as the regular season nears its end.
The Lady Panthers (10-12, 3-3 CCC) lost two games at a cluster in Mexico, Saturday.

Palmyra opened the event with a 5-2 loss to Mexico.
The Lady Panthers scored a first-inning run, but the Bulldogs went ahead with two runs in the bottom of the inning and then went up, 5-1, with three runs in the sixth.
Palmyra made a seventh-inning comeback starting with leadoff singles by Alaina Loman and Bella McBride, and Lexi Peuster drove in a run with two-out single before Mexico closed out the contest.
Kennedy Wilson started for Palmyra and went six inning, giving up five earned runs on six hits and six walks while striking out four.
Palmyra out-hit Mexico, 8-6, with Abbey Redd leading the way by going 3-for-4 with a double.
The Lady Panthers also suffered a 12-1 loss to Southern Boone.
Palmyra was held to one hit, a second-inning single by Wilson.
Southern Boone pitcher, Paige Cruzan, struck out 11 in five innings.
Tenlee Voss and Wilson split the pitching duties for Palmyra.
The Lady Panthers went to 3-3 in conference play with an 8-2 home win over Brookfield, Tuesday.
Palmyra built an 8-0 lead through the first four innings and held the Brookfield to two unearned, fifth-inning runs.
Wilson went the distance, giving up just two hits and two walks while striking out 11.
Wilson, Hailey Kreoger and Loman led Palmyra’s nine-hit offense with two hits each.
The Lady Panthers finish Clarence Cannon Conference play this Thursday at Centralia.
The Lady Panthers had a late furious comeback, but it fell short in an 8-6 loss at home to Highland last Monday.
The Lady Cougars scored three in the third, one in the fifth and four in the sixth to take an 8-0 lead, but Palmyra roared back with three in the sixth and three in the seventh and had the tying run at the plate with nobody out before Highland held on.
A lead-off fielding error opened the door for Palmyra in the seventh, and singles by Redd and Voss, followed by Peuster’s double drew Palmyra to within two.
But the next three batters made outs and the game was over.
Kennedy Wilson pitched a complete game, but was touched for all eight runs, six of them earned, and 14 hits, while striking out five.
Palmyra was to complete its regular season schedule this week with a home game, Monday, against Canton, followed by road games against Troy, Wednesday, and Centralia, Thursday.
Palmyra completes the season at Hannibal, Monday
Next week, the Lady Panthers will compete in the Class 3, District 3 Tournament at Orchard Farm along with Bowling Green, Fulton, Lutheran St. Charles, Mexico, Orchard Farm, Winfield and Wright City.
As of Monday morning, a tournament bracket had yet to be posted.
Junior varsity action
The junior varsity squad went to 7-3-1 on the season with a 7-2 loss at home to Brookfield, Tuesday.
Palmyra had a 1-0 lead going into the fourth when Brookfield plated five runs.
Palmyra added one in the bottom of the inning, but Brookfield responded with two more in the fifth.
Arizona Mitchell and Grace Scifres split the pitching duties.
Palmyra managed four hits including a double by Jaeda Parker and singles by Madi Fessenden, Sophie Zeiger and Chloe Chamberlain.
The Lady Panthers earned a dramatic 1-0 win at home over Highland last Monday.
Palmyra had been no hit during the first four innings, and the Lady Cougars were one out away from extending the game when Clara Keim singled and moved to second on a passed ball before scoring the winning run on a single by Parker along with a Highland error.
Mitchell pitched a complete game two hitter, striking out four while walking two.
