Panthers drop to 3-2 in CCC with 65-62 loss at South Shelby

The PHS varsity boys basketball team all but fell out of the conference title race with a 65-62 loss at South Shelby, Friday.

The loss put the Panthers at 3-2, in third place behind Macon, which is 3-0 in the Clarence Cannon Conference, and Centralia, 3-1.
Palmyra got out to a decent start against the Cardinals before going into half time down by four.
But, the Cardinals came out firing to begin the second half, and went on a 24-17 run to go into the final quarter up 57-46.
Bear Bock sank 12 field goals and scored a team high 25 points for Palmyra.
Also scoring were Jon Lundberg, 11; Bronson Juette, 11; Carson Hicks, 10; Ethan Redd, two; Ryan McKeown, two; and Trey Smyser, one.

Zaiden Wood scored 17 of his game-high 26 points in the second half for the Cardinals, while Jayden Baker scored 16.
The Panthers struggled to put away Clark County, Tuesday, coming out with a tough 48-42 win.
Palmyra managed to score just two points, a two-pointer by Bear Bock, in the first quarter, and trailed 17-14 at the half before going into the final quarter tied at 34.
Bock sank three field goals and a free throw to help lead Palmyra’s 14-8 run to win the game.
Bock finished with a game-high 19 points on eight field goals and three charity shots.
Also scoring were Smyser, who sank two three-pointers and scored 10 points off the bench; Bronson Juette, eight; Redd, four; McKeown, two; Rayce Ragar, two; Jeremiah Edwards, two; and Tyler Banta, one.
This week, the Panthers play CCC foe, Monroe City, at home Tuesday, and travel to Bowling Green, Thursday.
