The PHS varisty boys basketball team ended a 16-game losing streak to Monroe City with a 47-29 win at home during Senior Night last Tuesday.
Palmyra broke a 5-5 first-quarter tie with an 18-10 run to go into halftime and then out-scored their former nemesis 24-14 the rest of the way.

Palmyra’s Ethan Redd puts up a shot while Ryan McKeown and Jon Lundberg wait under the basket during action against Monroe City last Tuesday.
Tyler Banta led the second quarter run with a three pointer, capped by two steals and follow-up layups.

Also scoring were Carson Hicks, nine, McKeown, seven, Bear Bock, six, Redd, five, and Lundberg, two.
Palmyra’s winless streak against Monroe City dated back to Dec. 9, 2017, when Palmyra beat Monroe for the Monroe City Tournament championship.
Tuesday’s win also put the Panthers at 4-2 in Clarence Cannon Conference play.
The Panthers held Bowling Green to 11 field goals in a 43-27 road win Thursday.
Palmyra got out to a 15-3 lead and kept that same edge going into the third quarter when the team went on an 11-3 run.
