The Marion County R-II girls basketball team ended the regular season with an 84-31 loss at home to Canton, one of the best teams in northeast Missouri, last Tuesday.
The sixth-seeded Lady Mustangs (4-19) move on to Class 1, District 11 play in LaPlata, where they will play at 8 p.m. Tuesday against third-seeded Novinger.
The winner moves on to the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to play the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal between second-seeded Atlanta and seventh-seeded Bevier.
The Lady Mustangs (4-20) struggled from the get-go against the Lady Tigers (19-7) and trailed 29-4 after the first quarter and 43-9 at the half.
Aylah Pollard led Marion County with 10 points, while Sam Kindhard sank two three-pointers for six points.
Also scoring were Kennedy Hathaway, three, Tristen Holt, three, Alyssa Lee, three, Maya Bock, two, Riley Holt, two, and Grace Jensen-Page, two.
Canton’s Emma-Leigh Hultz sank seven three-pointers for all of her game-high 21 points.
